2011 Oval Races: It’s not 2012 yet!
Since the end of the world isn’t quite upon us yet, it seems like a fitting conclusion to keep riding bicycles. And racing them, too. At least until the apocalypse comes and we ACTUALLY get raptured. Until then, you can find us out on the trails, streets, dirt roads, and yes, the podium!
Once again, Team 400 Smith returned to the tree-canopied-university-drive-turned-velodrome for the 4th annual 6-Day Races at the CSU Oval.
Did you know that the Oval is 2065′ around? Not that anyone really cares, but that’s about .4 miles. I even measured it myself with a ruler. Insert lewd sex-themed joke about your male parent here.
This year, a Professional Race Director was recruited to lend his expertise to the competitions, this man being none other than our team patriarch, Dan Lionberg:

…And now, for the race results:
That’s right, Team 400 Smith had finishes in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each rider’s respective categories.
Nicole: 1st, Open Women. How’s that for a debut season on t 400 s? Watch out, Fort Collins females, she’s got plenty more tricks up those sleeves and sprints in those legs.
Rafael: 2nd, Citizen Men. And he’s just getting started…
Claire: 3rd, Open Women. At least I made it on the damn podium, I guess.
400 Smith Racing update!
This blog, and this team, live on. A rebirth if you will. A grueling winter along side the loss of some key members to rainy shores have left doubt in the hearts of our racers. Though, as the seasons change, so do the Smithers, and the seasons have changed indeed! Mad gnar gnar is within our sights and together we will huck into this brave new time, with brave new wheel patches on our sleeves, smashing all that comes in our way. Climbing the highest hills, racing down with breakneck speeds, negotiating the most catastrophic of terrain. We will ride. We will ride your dad. We will even ride with your dad.
Let it be known.
The era of 400 Smith has lives on!
